DIANE L. UMEMOTO
Art for the Home
I am a self-taught artist and retired educator in literature and social studies, whose career included two universities and five international schools in Asia, before coming to London. My artistic journey started in the 1990s when the international school in Islamabad closed temporarily during the Afghan air strikes. Bored, I searched for a hobby and settled on watercolours. Now retired from the American School in London, I discovered a thirst in the international community for paintings of local scenes: a favourite street, pub, house, or park.
In addition, I paint from the many photos I take as I continue to travel, join sketching groups, and experiment with different subjects and media.
